Not name approval
The Department of State explicitly says the database should not be used to determine whether an entity name is acceptable.
What to capture from the record
Match the entity name, DOS ID, entity type, initial filing date, county, jurisdiction and current public status to the business you intended to find. Open available filing history when the underlying document matters.
What the record cannot settle
The database relies on filed information and does not guarantee completeness or accuracy. A listing does not prove trademark rights, local permission, tax registration, county publication completion, insurance coverage or every required permit.
Use the record as an input
